"The Game", "Emotions", "The Trip"

“The Game”
Working hard, for so long
Only to find the time was  wrong.

A lousy shot on a lousy call,
In the net you could find the ball.

After that, playing was useless.
Giving up, we were worthless.

Past streaks and victories all were lost.
No one understood what that game cost.

Disappointment, heartache, and pain;
So much gone and nothing gained.

“Emotions”
These emotions all locked up inside;
Nowhere to go, nowhere to hide.
Mixed up together in one giant mess
Only causing me even more stress.

What should I do? What should I say?
Do I leave here or do I stay?
I can’t tell anyone what’s on my mind.
They’d be scared at what they would find.

So I sit here again, not knowing what to do.
I’ve been through this before, nothing’s new.
Tomorrow’s a new day – clean, fresh, and white.
All I need to do is get through the night.

“The Trip”
Sitting here, looking
At all the beautiful scenery;
Sitting here, being
With all my friends, happy and carefree.

Sitting here, listening
To the sweet, unique sounds of nature;
Sitting here, thinking
About times shared and our unknown future.

Out in the open,
Young and strong yet little do we know;
Out in the open,
No guide to show easy paths to follow.

Out in the open,
This being our last time together;
Out in the open,
These times etched in our minds forever.

Archiving the Past… “One Day at a Time”

So I’ve been thinking about the changes I’ve made in the past year, and especially in the past six months…and recently I’ve been drawn to reread some of my ‘poetry’ from my youth. I say ‘poetry’ because it is only a young teenagers version of life – not sophisticated or complex. But it is what I was capable of producing so I thought it should be kept perhaps somewhere there is a chance of it existing long past me. So here is the first:

“One Day at a Time”
Today is a new day
Yesterday is in the past
Don’t dwell on tomorrow
Live life to the fullest
It goes very fast
Who knows when our time has come
No one has a clue
Enjoy life and be happy
Don’t be sad and blue
For when today has gone
And tomorrow has come
There’s been one more lesson learned
Whether you live life and be happy
It’s all up to you
For life here goes quickly
Get the most out of it now
Happiness is the key to success
One day at a time
